My Theatre Confidences 🤫

Welcome to this little corner where I share my reflections on theatre. Let me tell you: I don’t call these reviews. Review has always felt toxic to me, heavy with judgment and tied to a middle-class, "objective" gaze that only reinforces privilege in the theatre industry. I’m not here to cast verdicts or critique from above; I’m here to share the personal, heartfelt impact a performance has on me—when it does!—foregrounding connection, care, and community.

Blood Show

Battersea Arts Centre

12 - 23 November

In a cyclical feat of endurance and precision, Blood Show is a raw, euphoric choreography between 3 figures and 75 litres of fake blood.

A call to action to put what’s inside on the outside and defend against a violent gaze, Blood Show questions rebirth and how we all carry our ghosts with us.

My Way of

Looking at Theatre

I’ve always found those cold, judgmental reviews not just uninspiring but downright arrogant. They seem to focus more on the critic’s ego than on the art itself, and that’s never sat right with me. My passion has always been for the artists, not the critics who try to outshine the work they’re supposedly “reviewing”.

Alice in Wonderland

Brixton House

21 November - 4 January

After an explosive argument with Mum at Brixton Underground Station, eleven-year-old Alice leaps onto the tube seconds before the doors hiss shut.

Trapped on a train speeding into Nonsense, surrounded by weird and wonderful passengers, and at the mercy of a Queen who won’t relinquish the controls, can Alice turn this train around?

Multi-award-winning company Poltergeist weave rap music together with the sights and sounds of Brixton into a hundred-mile-an-hour Christmas adventure. #AliceinBrixton

Ballet's Colonial Legacy

Did you know ballet, often seen as the pinnacle of elegance, was once a tool of colonial domination?

European powers spread ballet as part of their cultural control, using it to suppress indigenous dances and establish European "superiority."

This history still shapes how we see ballet today.

How Watching

Dance Heals You
